Our Story

Who Is the Golden Ultra?

When you sign up for the Golden Ultra, what exactly are you signing up for? Obviously you’ll take a few steps on the amazing trails of Golden but the Golden Ultra is a little bit more than that. We are:

  • Committed to the experience. By giving all runners an amazing experience with challenging and well-marked trails in beautiful areas. In our opinion, this event is about every person that crosses the start line to undertake the challenge and we will do our best to celebrate and recognize those who show passion, perseverance and good character.

  • Passionate about keeping Golden, golden. As much as possible, we support local businesses, hire local crews, and we’re always looking for new ways to increase the sustainability of our events by reducing their impact on the environment and keeping our natural environments pristine.

  • Dedicated to getting the next generation of runners hooked: check out our FREE kids race on Saturday!!

  • Devoted to our crew. Our crew and volunteers mean the world to us. Without them this event wouldn’t be possible, so don’t be surprised if you see them being treated like rock stars!

On Sustainability

Beyond our commitment to the runners, crew and community that make this event special, we’re also committed to our planet. That means we pledge to:

  1. Create as little waste as possible.

  2. Return as much richness to our community as possible.

More specifically, we will:

Work toward zero waste by:

  • Recycling at our check point/aid stations.

  • Re-gifting leftover aid station food to volunteers and crew.

  • Eliminating the use of cups at our aid stations. (Bring your own cups/bottles as we are a “Cupless” event!)

  • Reusing or recycling all of our event materials and infrastructure, including course marking materials.

Give back to our community by:

  • Holding fundraisers and making donations to local not-for-profits when possible.

  • Sourcing as much as we can from local people and businesses.

  • Helping to promote local causes, especially those that are participating in Golden Ultra.
