We've been reducing the travel stress for our runners since year one by offering an accommodation and meals package.
The basic package includes:
- accommodation on Friday and Saturday nights,
- breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning,
- dinner on Saturday night, and
- transportation to the start line on Saturday and Sunday.
Accommodation is provided at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Vagabond Lodge and various luxury homes managed by Lush Mountain Accommodations. The homes are all very well appointed with full kitchens, hot tubs, common areas and bedrooms with private bathrooms. We chose accommodations at the resort because they are far from the noisy rail tracks and highway that run past many accommodations in the Town of Golden.
The Friday activities are all based at Kicking Horse Resort, only a short walk from your accommodation. On Saturday and Sunday, the events start and finish in the Town of Golden, approximately 15 minutes from the resort so we provide a morning shuttle to the start line.
Saturday evening dinner has been redesigned in 2017 to accommodate feedback from prior years. We will provide you with a meal coupon that can be redeemed at various restaurants in Golden or at Kicking Horse Resort any time on Saturday. This means that those of you wishing a quiet evening on the hill, can shower, eat and stay cozy, while those that want to attend the awards and enjoy a more social setting have that option in town as well.
Breakfasts are served in your accommodation approximately 3-1.5 hours prior to the start time on Saturday and Sunday. We can accommodate all dietary requests given enough advance notice.
