More formalized and more fun, Skyrunning Canada's race series is back again in 2017 and Golden Ultra remains as one of the anchor events at the tail end of the season. Our first stage, the Blood (Vertical KM) and our second stage, the Sweat (60 km Ultra) are recognized SkyRunning events. Our third stage... let's call that a victory lap!
In 2016 we had a number of amazing runners join us for all three days or only our skyrunning-certified events. Joanna Ford ended up winning the Canadian Sky-Ultra classification and Alicia Woodside the Vertical classification. On the men's side, Andy Reed dominated the Golden Ultra field but did not participate in other SkyRunning Canada events so his overall points in the series did not make the cut. Vincent Pagot, a two-time Golden Ultra runner prevailed for a first place finish in the Vertical KM rankings and second in the SkyUltra.
We are really excited to be part of this great line up of races again in 2017 and are already seeing some hot-hot registrations come in among the fun-run-party types (whom we also dearly love). Our defending women's champion from 2016, Katie Mills is back, alongside our men's champions from both 2015 and 2016, Jorge Maravilla and Andy Reed respectively.
Who's going to be next? We've got your back whether you're on trail to win, PB or just have a great time in a beautiful place.
